Choosing a Transporter

considerations

Support

It is very important when undertaking heavy haulage that your equipment is transported by a reputable company. At the end of the day your equipment must be transported trouble free, damage free and in the time it was required.

Price versus cost

Do not always get mixed up in chasing the cheapest transport rate because in most cases – you pay for what you get. There will always be a cheaper price somewhere but how many corners do you want cut?

Insurance

A lot of inferior transporters do not have transit insurance – this is a massive risk to the customer – always ask your transporter about what liabilities are covered.

Equipment

Inspect the transporters equipment – if you are uncomfortable with what you see take it up with the transporter prior to loading your articles.

Permits

Most heavy and oversize loads require permits for movement – do not be afraid to ask the transporter to produce these permits prior to travel – this will demonstrate if they have followed the required permit process.

Service

Most of all – if you are uncomfortable with any part of the process whether it be loading, transit, unloading or the manner in which you are dealt with, just remember that you are the customer and you dictate what happens and when. If your transporter cant accommodate this, it may be time to change. If at any time you have ideas about how we might improve our service to you we want to hear from you.
